"Why Astronomers Don't See UFO's" - The Daily Galaxy

Though the premise of this article is incorrect, it does offer interesting speculations about the possible nature of alien life. Astronomers do sometimes see things they can't identify. Thus, two surveys by Dr. Peter A. Sturrock and one by Dr. J. Allen Hynek indicated that a percentage not only do see things they can't explain, but are willing to say so. Hynek and Sturrock also noted there's a great reticence to report such sightings, which indicates that the actual numbers of astronomers observing anomalous phenomena may be considerably greater. But many unusual sightings likely occur outside the relatively narrow field of view of a telescope, such as the Mystery Aircraft Circling Canadian City Caught on Camera. Brett Tingley follows up on an earlier story about a (still) mysterious airplane that'd been puzzling citizens of Kingston, Ontario, for about two weeks. It's a Pilatus PC-12, used by government and private agencies, but Brett sees continued suspense in the story, as no one claims the particular plane in question as theirs. (WM)
