Forty-four years ago a Navy frigate experienced a navigational emergency and headed for dry land, where it was discovered something enormous—colossal actually—had attempted to swallow the ship for dinner. Teeth and claws were embedded in the rubber that covered the ship's hull, and while no leviathan was ever discovered, it was estimated that whatever gripped the ship must have been about half the size of the Statue of Liberty.
