The 1947 Twining UFO Memo Still Matters - Medium

Context to the current frenzy over UFOs. Bryce Zabel says it's "deja vu all over again," and hopes that in almost 75 years of subsequent experience the upcoming government report goes rather beyond Twining's 1947 statement: "The phenomenon reported is real and not visionary or fictitious." Not much progress is indicated in Curt Collins' verdict about the subsequent Pentagon UFO Report 1952: We Can Do Nothing. Subject: Gen. John A. Samford's press conference after the July Washington, D.C. UFO overflights. "Not to worry" was its overriding message, though as Collins notes, Samford's delegation to Project Blue Book head Captain Edward Ruppelt of the question about "sightings around atomic bomb plants or areas" produced a less-than-reassuring response.
