Inside the Disturbing Mysteries Surrounding New Mexico's Dulce Base - All That's Interesting

Hoaxes, conspiracy theories, and advertising gimmicks are all part of the UFO experience. Marco Margaritoff tells the legendary story of the human-alien Dulce Base with a rather wild embedded 1995 Phil Schneider video that runs seven consecutive segments. Schneider mixes in "Element 123" [take that, Bob Lazar], Valiant Thor, and corbomite--apparently heard correctly--with some even stranger claims. Adam Gorightly's recently published Saucers, Spooks and Kooks: UFO Disinformation in the Age of Aquarius deals largely with the Dulce matter. Nick Redfern says of The Serpo UFO Documents: Not a True Story, But Something Even More Intriguing. Nick's hoax explanation involves a noted sci-fi author who worked for the CIA. Curt Collins' The 1950 Alien Invasion Hoax considers a cooked-up scheme for a less serious purpose, with no lasting repercussions within the UFO community. And it's hard to figure out what's really beneath Brent Swancer's The Weird Guyra Dam "UFO Crash" Incident. Brent notes this mystery "has not ever been concretely explained." But Guyra UFO of 8th December, 1999 confirms the odd tale, so we'll have to take it for "granite!" (WM)
