The Mysterious Case of Popper the Poltergeist - Mysterious Universe

The New Year is almost upon us and what better way to welcome it than with a story of a poltergeist who first announced its presence by popping the caps off all the beverages in the house. Polt-For-Hire anyone? Those champagne corks can be tricky. Next we have The Strange Story of a Haunted Murder House, which would not be the first choice of a party location. Seems the real estate agent who sold the home to a hapless family in 2001 left out the property's horrific history. Needless to say there weren't any peaceful days or nights there, but there weren't any for the original occupants either. But at least no one got accused of practicing witchcraft. Can't say that about this story from 18th century Ireland: Poltergeists, Demonic Possessions, and a Witch Trial in Ireland describes a spate of alleged poltergeist-like activity and sightings of a demonic child that were ultimately pinned on a group of women who were accused of witchcraft. No surprise there, but we can't help but wish one of them actually was a witch of Sabrina-like caliber who could have made the authorities regret their misogyny. (CM)
