Hairy hominids in rural England occupy Nick Redfern's interest here, as he relates stories old and recent of 'semi-spectral chimpanzee-like' critters 'roaming menacingly' for many a decade. Much smaller than Bigfoot, their ability to scare is nonetheless just as large. Meanwhile, Magonia writes of Spring On The Common and gives us a tale about Spring Heeled Jack, which isn't a device for roadside car repairs, but a fellow who, despite dressing like Liberace, scared the wits out of English folks by leaping out of nearby bushes and bounding away. Some say he was a prankster aristocrat, but if he wasn't a Lord-a-Leaping, he was still springing a nasty surprise on the locals. (LP)
