Inside One Man’s Quest To Photograph The Elusive ‘Iliamna Lake Monster’ - Anchorage Daily News

Alaska may just give Texas a run for its money as the state where everything is bigger. We already know about the mosquitoes large enough to carry off small pets (joking, sort of!). But did anyone know Alaska had its own lake monster? Iliamna Lake is more of an inland sea, 80 miles long and complete with flourishing populations of seals and beluga whales. While most would argue that sightings of anything strange on the lake are the results of these creatures coupled with visual distortion, others are undertaking serious investigation. Who can blame them, considering all the Bizarre Encounters with Mystery Beasts in Alaska. There may be some debate over what people are actually encountering, but whether you call then Dogmen or Sasquatch, they're big and scary and they serve as a reminder that up in Alaska we humans are not at the top of the food chain.
