In what sounds like the best research project ever, scientists are trying to discern which psychedelic drugs produce experiences comparable to NDEs. But before you dial rehab for these guys, you should know that the resources being utilized are purely anecdotal. We expect the forthcoming report to use the word "Dude" frequently. But it does seem like we can't learn enough about the dying process:
Hospice Dream Study Documents Unusual Near-Death Experiences. There appear to be a series of similar themes underlying the experiences of the dying. Whether these are indicative of a thinning veil between worlds, chemical reactions in a dying brain, or a very human need to make sense of a lifetime is up for debate. What matters most perhaps is that for those in the midst of a grim experience, the process is made lighter.(CM)
