Blinking Cows - Fortean Ireland

Here's an entertaining news report from 1927 Ireland--although we don't imagine it was entertaining for the people involved. Apparently belief in the evil eye was thriving and and courts were doing their best to dispel the notion and bring Ireland into the current century as accusations were directed at neighbors anytime a cow fell ill.  Were there no vets in 1927? More recently, Ukrainian Villagers Terrified as Sheep Are Mysteriously Drained of Blood with surgical precision and nary a drop spilled. Some mutilated sheep have been discovered with claw marks, indicating predators of the terrestrial kind, although it seems almost too easy for claims of UFOs or military interference to take hold. As always, there are many questions and theories and few plausible answers. (CM)
