In 2008 the shore of Ditch Plains in Montauk became more than a surfing destination. It became a focus of high strangeness initiated by the discovery of a decomposing animal carcass. To date the story remains wrapped in mystery, denial, and a certain conspiratorial silence that ensures the story remains alive, however much Montauk residents would like to forget.
