Witch Nose

First off, I want to say that I am fully aware of how cliche this experience of mine sounds, but this is how it happened so please look past this fact.

It happened in the village where my grandparents live, ever since I was a kid I spent every summer break there and had made a group of friends along the way. This is the part that sounds cliche: in this village there is an abandoned home near a crossroad where we usualy spent our evenings, that house became a playground for us and we destroyed most of it, knocked down doors, broken windows, etc.

One night we were playing hide & seek, a common activity for us, and as a hiding spot I and 2 other boys choose a place we were familiar with, that house's courtyard, we waited there for the seeker to finish counting down, we started looking around us to make our game plan, that's when I saw it. From the frame of a knocked down door an old woman was looking at us, due to the lack of light I was only capable to discern her profile, she was hunched over and seemed to be shivering, she held something in her hand though I couldn't see what, but her most preeminent feature was her bent over nose, like those you would see on a witch mask. Sheer fear overtook me, not the fear of something that might happen to me but a pure sense of terror, after a couple of seconds I started running through the courtyard, then through the garden due to the lack of a fence to separate the two then I finally climbed and jumped the back fence and threw myself down to catch my breath.

I didn't even notice my two friends running behind me until they fell near me after jumping the fence as well. There wasn't much of a dialogue, I asked what they saw and one of them (we called him Bobo) started gesticulating to emulate a long bent over nose, the other said an old woman standing in the doorframe, there was no time to cook up stories and we were all visibly terrified. We called it a night and the three of us headed to our homes leaving the others to continue playing. That night I asked my grandparents whether or not there was a woman that fitted the description in our village despite the fact that an old person couldn't get inside that house without anyone noticing, my grandmother claimed there was no such person but my grandfather seemed to be hit by nostalgia as he said :"Hey! Do you remember the hag? That one that used to chase us when we were young!" "Ehh, yeah, Iepuroiu's woman! But why do you ask?" I remained silent, Iepuroiu was the name of the house's deceased owner. I am certain of what I saw, and any doubt I might have had was undone when I compared the sighting with those two friends of mine, even trying to add false details only for them to correct me. Eventually, we gathered enough courage to enter the house again, only during the day anyway.

I recently discovered this subreddit and seemed like the place to tell my tale, I am fully aware of how this cliche sounds, this tale of mine has almost all the tropes in a "ghost in the abandoned house" story, but this is the truth, also, please excuse the possible grammar mistakes, I am Romanian, english is not my native language.
