Unexplained iPad search results?

This happened to me personally in 2011.

I was in Miami for a work event, I work in magazine publishing, and was staying in one of those high rise towers that’s split between apartments and a hotel, in downtown Miami after I couldn’t find a room in south beach where our event was.

I come home after the nights event alone and am reading gawker.com (a New York Media type blog) on my iPad in bed until I fell asleep. It was a story that was particularly engaging so I picked up my iPad in the morning to continue reading it.

Now this might not sound scary but was one of the scariest things that ever happened to me.

I pick up the iPad and the last page opened was for a baseball players statistics from 1997, which was incredibly scary because I know nothing about baseball and had never heard of the player the page was on. Thinking I clicked a page by accident I hit the back button and it takes me to a google page where the previous search terms appeared: more baseball related trivia. I click back and back until I finally get to the page I was reading when I fell asleep.

Frightened, I jump out of bed to check the doors and windows, the door is locked from the inside and the balcony is too.

I called the front desk and no one had been to my room. The Bluetooth was off on the iPad too, so I don’t think someone could have connected.

Has anyone ever had something similar happen? The incident itself doesn’t sound scary, but finding these websites on my iPad that clearly follows someone’s train of thought as if someone has been using the iPad while I slept, definitely was.
