This is my first time on Reddit, and to be honest it’s addicting reading stories on here, but it made me think to speak about my story. And bare with me it’s kind of long since it’s year long occurrence.
A little about myself, I am almost 26 (birthday is October 31st ironically enough) and I own my own daycare. It’s a pretty small company, I only have 20 kiddos, so anyways about a year ago (June 2017) I bought a small house it’s about 1,200sqft and turned it into my daycare, I was previously doing it out of my home when I had less kids but needed something bigger, anyways back to the house, it’s a old house and I didn’t know exactly how old until creepy things started to happen. Like I said it’s a daycare so no one is here on Saturday or Sundays and I should mention I have cameras monitoring most of the space as well as outside. I also employ 2 other girls one is full time and the other part time she isn’t here as much. Almost a full month rolls by where things are perfectly normal until one day my employee who is full time her name is Amy off handed asks why Luke (my husband) has been in the attic, the question throws me a little because he hasn’t. Not since we installed the cameras a month prior and also because if he had how would she even know? I say this and she was like oh well I noticed the window (it faces the driveway) in the attic is open I just thought he left it and forgot about it. I tell her to my knowledge he hasn’t been up there since June when we moved the daycare in, kind of weird whatever I brush it off and determine he did it and I’ll ask him to go close it, turns out he didn’t... and he also told me that window was painted shut.. ok super weird.. again whatever brush it off who wants to believe creepy things are happening right?
A couple weeks go by with nothing happening until mid July when for a straight week the top cupboard in the bathroom is wide open and each time I close it and go back into the bathroom it’s open again, at first I think it’s my employees just not shutting it but we do not keep anything in the top cupboard it’s high I’m 5’7 and I have to raise my arms above my head to close it and it’s also creepy in itself, super dark in there and it’s a very deep cupboard but it also has a vent leading to the attic. Anyways I tell Amy and Rayna (other part time employee) to please shut the cupboard if they open it, to this they both look confused and say they haven’t touched it and think it’s me opening it. So this goes on for a while we start to notice other things like for example I have a picture in there that is constantly going sideways. Not ok.. but what can you do?
Fast forward to end of July where the really not ok stuff starts to happen, as I mentioned I have cameras, and I do have to do playbacks on them to just make sure everything is fine (I work most days at the daycare but take days here and there off) anyways going back on the cameras I notice things like kids blankets just vanish, in one second they’re there and the next they aren’t (getting chills writing this) or the video will be playing smoothly and I see the curtains move on their own, there was two incidents where there was a small child like shadow running into the hallway (on a Saturday when no kids are here) another thing that creeps me out is I’ll find things in different places. All of this isn’t harmful but creepy I know this, and really what do you?.. so we are into August now and the cupboard thing keeps happening along with my cameras picking things up that move. (Gah) until one day one of my little girl toddlers (who is 4) and the sweetest thing ever and is very good for a toddler is sitting on the playroom floor playing “house” with barbies by herself while the other kids are playing with other things when out of nowhere she starts to scream super loud just scream and I immediately jump up and do the “what’s wrong are you ok what’s happening” kind of helicopter parent thing she stops screaming and starts shouting “get away!” And at first I think it’s me she’s telling to go but she’s looking straight at the hallway where the bathroom is.. so I say her name and ask what she’s talking about and she doesn’t even look at me but says in a now totally calm voice “the boy is being mean” remember there has been no one playing with her for like 30 minutes so I say no one is playing with you sweetie, she kind of gets flustered the way kids do when you aren’t in total agreement with them and she kind of huffs and says “just tell the boy to be nice or he can go back to the bathroom” at this time my employee Amy is sitting with me on the ground with the toddler and we both just kind of pale because one, that’s just super creepy especially coming from a child, and two we’ve had so many strange things happen especially concerning the bathroom. So the day goes on smoothly nothing like that happens again, until about an hour after the little girl is picked up I get a very concerning text from her dad saying this:
“Avery has 4 small but very deep bite marks on her bottom and she keeps telling me a boy did it in the bathroom did something like that happen today?”
Amy is the one to receive this text on the work phone and I can tell by her face it’s not a good text and I ask what’s wrong and she just says nothing and hands me the phone. No one that day or actually rarely ever has bitten anyone, I’ve been lucky in my 8 years of childcare where I’ve never had to deal with a biting problem and I have NEVER let two children go to the bathroom together on top of that. I say this to her dad and also say I would of sent an accident report if it did. I didn’t hear back from him until the next morning when he dropped off and told me the marks are completely gone so he pretty much dropped the issue.
Though now I’m throughly freaking out because my daycare it’s definitely haunted, and I’m upset because I need to protect my kids and how do you get rid of a freaking child ghost!? This is when my husband me and my employees start to research the house, it’s origins, people who have lived here, etc etc... digging up info on be house was extremely hard. All maps I have found about this area using other address around me show that no house is where my daycare is.. finally I come across a map that’s about 90 years old showing the original house before it’s add-ones so we deduce that the house is at least that old if not more probably built about 1900s or so when the first group of settlers came through my town, I could never discover anything about the house though itself the only thing I managed to dig up was a record of people who have lived here in the past 5 years which has been 17 different people.. I know that’s not exactly terrifying but oh my god that’s eerie...why so many people in such a small span of time? By that point it’s almost October and nothing further has happened.
Fast forward to present time June rolled around and things have started happening again! Stuff is moving around the same old same old but now we always find the attic window open (even though my husband has used his deck screws to keep it shut) we have actually had the neighbors that live the next house over come over and ask use to please turn off the light in our attic when we leave the house at night because it shines into their bedroom, there is not a single source of light in that attic not even so much as a candle...things move around much more and now when I take videos of the kids I’ll see black spots on the photos or if it’s a video you can hear a creepy voice saying things in it.
Just don’t know what to do.... throughly creeped out by my own daycare.
I have videos and pictures of these things happening but I don’t a place to post them here?
