Our Skies Are More Watched Than Ever, So Why Are Reported UFO Sightings on the Decline? - Gizmodo

MUFON statistician David C. Korts confirms what Cheryl Costa has been reporting about a recent decline in UFO sightings, or rather reports. Korts is digging into the data to learn more about how the rates of various reported UFO shapes and colors have changed, in order better to understand the situation. A UFO skeptic and MUFON's Executive Jan Harzan are also queried by Gizmodo reporter Jennings Brown. Maybe the world and particularly the U.S. are "down" in reports, but in Chile: UFO Sightings Have Become Commonplace in Patagonia. The head of a Chilean UFO group tells Liliana Pinzon that an increase in Patagonian reports began in 1997. While the article emphasizes UFO abductions, whose claimed number seems small, it ends with an very tantalizing reference to a May 5th incident involving airline pilots from both Chile and Peru. Next door to Chile, we have Argentina: Three Children Abducted by a UFO. This truly is a "spectacular case," as Francisco Villagran terms it, and deserves much more attention than it has apparently received. (WM)
