This experience has been happening for months now... and I've had similar experiences in my past. I am 100% sure after last night it is not a sleep paralysis as I was completely awake and my wife can testify to this. So to the point: I'm laying on the bed eyes closed while my wife is next to me watching tv. I feel my kitty climb up with her two fore paws on the bed. She nuzzles my back with her nose and then jumps up. I can feel her walking around down by my feet and settle. I open my eyes and sit up to pet her and she's gone. Not there at all. I walk out to the living room and there she is napping in her usual living room spot. This has been happening on and off for a while and like I said I have had similar experiences in the past I had chalked up to sleep paralysis or waking dreams which I was STILL at the time thinking what this might have been. I laid back down to sleep and the second I close my eyes I feel the paw steps on the bed again! Instead of opening my eyes and sitting up (which always stops the phenomenon immediately) this time I asked my wife if she sees anything. Nothing. It continues so I start describing to her the feeling of the paw prints walking from my feet up the bed to my upper back where it settled. Slinking slowly like a cat. She sees nothing of course, but this is the first time that I have had someone there to verify I was not asleep and definitly experiencing... something.
Brief description of past experiences:
Sometimes I'll see passing shadows in mirrors and the corners of my eyes but nothing is there.
As a child I saw shadow people, and when I would go to bed at night I would hear little footsteps all throughout my room. I'd open my eyes and they'd stop. This happened for about a week until something came to me (once again in bed) and started caressing my hair in a very "it's all going to be okay" kind of way. I fell asleep and the activity stopped until I got older.
Early 20s: sleeping at an ex's house (alone in another room) when I wake up to being strangled by something. Visible red marks on my throat.
Another time I was having a dream that I can't recall well. A child put their hands on my chest and were doing.. something? I woke up and when I went to brush my teeth I see a small, red, child's hand print on my chest like they were pushing down into it. I was living alone at the time.
Most of these experiences you'll notice happen when I'm in bed, though after last nights incident I'm positive I am ACTUALLY experiencing this (whatever it is) and not dreaming.
