A series of killed but barely eaten cattle have farmers in Japan on high alert for a bear, though leaving a meal behind is something no self-respecting bear would ever do. Or maybe it's a bear-like creature with ninja powers or an ability to shapeshift (based on its ability to evade capture). The concern is that if the wasteful marauder tires of the taste of beef, it will turn to humans for a little variety. Meanwhile, was the Lake Champlain Monster Spotted on Sonar? It's possible, given that the creature caught on sonar on September 10 was about 20 feet long. Its method of propulsion was a front appendage, thereby eliminating plesiosaurs and giant sturgeon. And it's no cephalopod either as Lake Champlain is one of the largest bodies of freshwater in the US. So the mystery continues. (CM)
