In this interview, Mike Mayes, author of the recent book, The Valley of the Apes (Anomalist Books), explains what qualifies as a cryptid and the role of habitat destruction in their spread, as well as Mayes' career as a high school teacher and his well-known blog, the Texas Cryptid Hunter. We don't feel confused, given when we zoom in we can see the variation in color that indicates the "creature" being recorded is wearing a shirt and pants (although hunters have been known to emerge from the bush looking pretty scruffy).
