Do Animals Dream? - The Atlantic

Of course they do, don't be stupid. Dogs and cats 'talk' in their sleep and 'run' as observed by pet owners worldwide, but anecdote isn't the plural for data. One requires science to acquire data and Camille Bromley presents some of that science found in David M. Peña-Guzmán's When Animals Dream — The Hidden World Of Animal Consciousness replete with birds practicing songs in their sleep and conjectures as to whether more inscrutible beasts like sponges and insects also dream. A queerer question to consider is "Do animals come back as ghosts?" Undine of Strange Company may not have a definitive answer, but she found a curious anecdote with The Egyptologist And The Angry Cat God where Lord Carnarvon and his domestic staff found themselves subject to a mummy's curse. Just not a human mummy. (CS)
