What Really Quantifies the Physical Traces of the UFO Phenomenon? - UFO Conjectures

Rich Reynolds turns over his blog to Spanish journalist-ufologist Jose Antonio Caravaca for another explication of his "Distortion Theory" of UFOs. Here Jose attacks the significance of physical trace cases by noting their relative scarcity in the UFO literature, while the absolute predominance of cases with psychic impacts upon witnesses is incontestable. Rich Reynolds himself does find a physical trace case report worthwhile, although that's not the reason why The "Old" UFO (Flying Saucer) Sightings/Reports Had a Credibility That "New" UFO Reports Do Not Have. Rich's point is that "nowadays" claims seem to him more the products of attention-seekers and people trying to feel or appear "special." And being chosen for a Close Encounter by The "Neanderthals" from Space, as Rich describes many of the purported ETs, does nothing to elevate their witnesses' status. So Rich concludes "There is another explanation for UFOs, but what?" and despairs that "No one is really trying to fathom the actuality." Well, Rich has already mused over What Could UFOs Be? He lists the standard guesses, plus Jose's more original one, and seeks more "UFO Conjectures." (WM)
