No, the Loch Ness Monster Isn’t Just a Whale Penis, Professor Says - New York Post

We're pondering lake monsters but the title of this first report has left us at a loss for words. It seems a prof out of the University of Derby in the UK made the initial claim that Nessie did not exist and witnesses were actually spotting whale "equipment" rising up out of the dark waters. As tongue in cheek as this statement was, the Doctor of Molecular Biology has felt compelled to rescind his words, given there are no whales in the loch. Next, our favorite Loch Ness researcher turns his attention to The Usse of North England . This story from the early 1600s takes place on England's east coast near the North Sea, and describes a massive creature that may well have been an actual whale. No "appendages" described in this sighting however. Lots of big teeth, though.  (CM)
