In keeping with Sunday's theme of bad science, a study on honesty has been proven to be false after nearly a decade. Presumably after people finally deigned to read it
then attempt to replicate it. Does this mean doom for Max Bazerman and Dan Ariely? Probably not, since the pair have reasonable doubt on their side. Fortunately Stephanie Lee uses some real data which suggests who really was behind this swindle and how they went about it. On the other hand, did the company, The Hartford, providing the data pull a fast one? (CS)
