Tracking 'Strange Beasts Of China' With Booze, Smokes and Sleuthing - The New York Times

We're not terribly happy with Yan Ge and Jeremy Tiang saying cryptozoology is about "self-delusion," but the new Strange Beasts Of China is a remarkable tale of cryptozoology in China, which is equal parts forteana and a private eye yarn (i.e. a novel). As for the real deal, regardless if real requires quotes, Tim Binnall caught wind of a Bigfoot Flimed Crossing a River in Michigan. It very well could be the Patterson-Gimlin footage of the 21st century, even if it's merely because the specimen is decidedly female, but the lighting is bright and the footage is unusually clear. Perhaps while she was fording those waters, she encountered another unexpected critter. Kelly McLaughlin wants everyone to know about Pet Goldfish Dumped Into a Minnesota Lake Have Swelled Into Monsters, Photos Show with photos to illustrate the point. In lighter news, by way of The Daily World Oakville Sasquatch Named After Chehalis Word For Bigfoot. Of course the beast in question isn't what you'd expect. (CS)
