Monster Fish Caught in Detroit River Is One of the Largest Ever Recorded By Biologists - ABC 6

The Detroit River has long been known for its industry and related environmental repercussions, but it's not the same river it was 50 years ago. Now it's home to at least one lake sturgeon weighing in at over 200 pounds and more than six feet in length. It's not surprising then that these beasties have been credited as the source of a great many lake monster sightings. Personally we'd take a sturgeon over an eel any day. Glasgow Boy has quite a few stories about those wriggly nightmares with More on Giant Eel Stories. These voracious undulating fish snakes travel in swarms (so much more disturbing than the schools the friendlier fish travel in) and have put off divers from exploring or recovering a variety of wrecks in Loch Ness.
