The human drive to survive is a remarkable thing, and never has it been more pronounced than in these examples of accidental freezing like giant tenderloins bought on sale at Costco. The examples discussed include both children and adults, and periods of frozen-ness spanning a few hours to close to a month. All end in full recovery, albeit with extensive rehab in some cases, and a large staff of exhausted and excited medical personnel. But what of the people who are frozen on purpose post death?
The Weird History of Cryonics, or Freezing People to Bring Them Back to Life in the Future is fraught with many of the same perils one would find in any funeral home where the undertaker stood to profit greater if he could help the death process along. Or we could think of the industry as similar to that of a meat packers, where keeping product frozen is tantamount. (Would freezer burns result in hard to explain re-birth marks?) But it's not exactly a disposition method, nor is it a storage method. For now, it's just a place to put your money when there's no one deserving of mention in your will. (CM)
