Why Is That Song Stuck In Your Head? - Psychology Today

Music is a visceral medium, eliciting emotions and thoughts often elusive to the conscious mind and often manifesting as earworms to convey a message. Such is the case in Disney+'s WandaVision. Lynn Zubernis has cracked the code of the motifs in the theme song, how it ties to the hit "It Was Agatha All Along", combining both to illustrate the mechanisms behind earworms. And what is music but applied mathematics? Heck, the archangel Gabriel even told kids, "Study your math! Key to the universe!" Maybe The Prophecy inspired Nick Redfern to traverse the rabbit hole of The Mysteries Of Numbers and when they control the minds of some people. Central to his thesis is the phenomenon of folks noticing when the digital clocks display 11:11 and other repetitive series of numbers and their intersection with coincidence, psychology, and... UFOS? Surely it must be A Glitch In The Matrix. It's no coincidence that Rodney Ascher's newest documentary is titled A Glitch In The Matrix which explores the nature of our perception of reality, causes for doubt, and the atmosphere of high strangeness surrounding the phenomenon where the fictitious become real among other manifestations which may be more than coincidental. Speaking of which, TRT World has a nifty explanation of How Scientists Explain Coincidence and how humans may be designed to anticipate these events. (CS)
