It's fair to say that Mitchell, while definitely having The Right Stuff, also had a bit of Odd Stuff, that either enhances or detracts from his achievement, depending on one's view. The titular experiment refers to his attempt to psychically send numbers/images from his space capsule to participants on Earth.
