Mysteries, Suicides, Strange Disappearances, and the Bizarre Story Iowa’s Cult City - Mysterious Universe

The custom-built cult community of Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, has been the hub of the International Transcendental Meditation Movement in America since its founding in 2001. Despite decades of tenacious efforts from the Yogic PR team to emphasize its peaceful mission, the city's grueling guru training camp has been plagued with decades of negative press from a random unprompted cafeteria murder, rashes of suicides, and an unsolved 2014 mass missing person event that smacks of human trafficking. Tales of vexing vanishings are Brent Swancer's bread and butter, but The Bizarre Disappearance and Strange Death of Philip Taylor Kramer and The Mysterious Vanishing of Kyle Fleischman aren't so baffling considering the various mental health, substance abuse, and financial issues surrounding their last known whereabouts. Nor is A Strange Disappearance, a Hit Song, and the Mysterious Deaths of Lela and Raymond Howard puzzling, though it's nice to imagine the octogenarians cutting loose and going out with a smile on their faces.
