Calling James Fox' new documentary "an excellent primer for people to get a good understanding of the nature of the UFO mystery," Australian researcher Bill Chalker gives much of the "story behind the story" as the film moved through the production process. Much of the discussion deals with the 1966 Melbourne, Victoria, Westall school mass UFO sighting, which along with the 1994 Ruwa, Zimbabwe, Ariel School mass sighting/encounter constitute two of the most dramatic accounts in the film. David Halperin supplies the promised installment of
his own mini-series, now scheduled to run for three episodes, in
"The Phenomenon" - Reflections on James Fox's New UFO Documentary (Part 2). David attempts to explain away three iconic encounters including the Westall and Ariel school events "in purely human terms." He's possibly less successful here than with cases he analyzes in his thoughtful and impressive book
Intimate Alien: The Hidden Story of the UFO. He's unassailably right to urge the primacy of near-contemporaneous accounts over memories enriched/obfuscated by passing decades. He's also amplified his thinking on Westall in 2016 blog articles on May 6; June 3, 17, and 3; and July 15 and 28. (WM)
