The introduction to this report says it all: "Its name was Observation Post Rock. The outpost is the backdrop for a ghost story, and is known for strange voices, radio static and the creeping fear of being watched." Turns out this "rock" was a hardened mound of dirt under which countless dead were interred in burial tunnels. At least that explains the occasional whiffs of corpse passersby would encounter. The "rock" was evidently regarded as a conduit of paranormal/spiritual activity, a fact not passed along to the American soldiers who used it as a strategic vantage point. (CM)
