Summer of UFO Sightings - Mystery Wire

Data analyst Cheryl Costa is the "go to person" for an overview on what's been transpiring in US skies of late. Duncan Phenix and Cheryl chat about long term comparisons and trends, more recent figures, and the "drivers" behind UFO reporting. Simon Green focuses on one sort of report, alerting us that a Triangular UFO Returns to Texas as Mystery Red Object Hovers in Night Sky.Patch staff writer Deb Belt has mined National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC) data for a series of articles such as UFO Sightings in Virginia, DC: What Witnesses Saw. Belt uses a generalized text, with a particular area's reports inserted. Beware: the report totals (1,846 from Virginia and 85 from D.C. in this case), are not for just the year 2020, as following the article's "UFO Sightings" link and then on the state/district name will produce a run-down going back to the '40s. The SatelliteInternet.com data Belt provides for "most sightings" and "fewest sightings" are "per 100,000 people," not actual total numbers of sightings. So while in those data Idaho has the highest sightings rate at 9.18, its "Total UFO Sightings" of 164 are far outmatched by Texas' 375. (WM)
