Researchers have for some time been attempting to prove the Continuity Hypothesis of dreams, which in simple terms would mean if you had a rough day, you could expect a rough night. A recent study with a sufficiently large sample is now suggesting the hypothesis is correct. Keeping in mind that symbology is the language of dreams, the study utilizes the Hall and Van de Castle system, "which codifies dreams in terms of the characters that appear within them, the interactions these characters have, and the effects these interactions subsequently have on the characters." So don't try to understand your dreams literally, unless you're a medium involved in solving crimes:
Psychic Readings, Dreams Become Crime Investigation Tips. Authorities interviewed for this report repeatedly emphasize that a lead is a lead, and they refuse to pass judgement on any leads that come in, regardless of source. And while sometimes the tips provided by mediums do not lead to cases being solved, they certainly don't hinder the investigations either. It's hard to know how to feel about this news. Should we be thrilled that the value of psychic insight is going more mainstream, or dismayed that there are so many violent, unsolved crimes that the police are being forced to change their investigative approach?
