Live Fish Falls From Sky in Tennessee, Gets Hit By Car, Then Gets Stuck in Bumper - Sacramento Bee

There is nothing more fortean than unexpected things falling from the sky. First up is a fish having the kind of bad day to end all bad days. Most likely ripped from its watery home by an eagle or other bird of prey, it ascended to what must have been a fair height before it was dropped, hit a car and became a bloody mass lodged in the grill. Less straightforward but altogether more gross, is The Mysterious Great Meat Shower of Kentucky which took place in 1876. It started with clear skies followed by a rain of meat-like chunks which were never adequately identified. For those of you wondering, no it was not like manna falling from the sky in the desert. And it wasn't regurgitated vulture lunch. Stranger still were the folks who actually put the blobby, half rotten stuff in their mouths and ate it, coming up with a variety of cringey possibilities based on the flavor. (CM)
