Short stories about little people, beginning with what's been suggested a possible inspiration for that frightfully scary William Shatner "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" Twilight Zone episode. The witness seems impeccable, still befuddled, and convinced. At least the entity in our first tale, unlike Shatner's gremlin, wasn't responsible for one of Brent Swancer's Bizarre Cases of Attacks from Mysterious Gnomes and Little People! Brent narrates some weird and increasingly horrifying yarns. Thankfully, Nick Redfern ends this faery journey on a more pleasant note. Spirits of the Trees: Taking a Look at Ancient Beliefs catalogues the dryads, shape-shifting beings Greek mythology associated with various trees, each different tree species connected with a particular dryad. And one might wonder with Nick if deforestation, which many feel diminishes the magic of nature, might be an even greater evil than we might suspect. (WM)
