With all the beasties and night bumpers we get to report on here at the Anomalist, it's worth noting that none keep us up at night the way vanishings do, especially if you like to spend time in the wilderness like we do. This first report details the truly strange behavior of a successful young man with his life ahead of him just prior to his running away down a mountain like a frightened animal, never to be heard from again. (Did he owe a loan shark money?) This next report documents
A Weird Case of a Mysteriously Vanished Hunter participating as a watcher in a deer drive. Oddly, no contact was received from the seasoned outdoorsman once he had taken up his position, in spite of a functioning two-way radio. Next is a story that is every parent's worst nightmare:
The Strange Vanishing of Derrick Engebretson focuses on the disappearance of a young lad out in the woods with family, and running ahead the way kids do. But in this tale, there is no meeting up with parents ahead on the trail and evidence points to what may have been an abduction. Our final report on
A Mysterious Vanishing at the Grand Canyon details an experienced hiker failing to meet back with his traveling companions in spite of a clearly marked trail and being in possession of a map. In all these cases, clues are in short supply and only ridiculous explanations seem possible. (CM)
