Maybe it's not "Tic Tac level," but Brett Tingley argues that the upcoming flight of the "Space-Shuttle-sans-People" X-37B is going to move the needle for an "utterly transformative concept." Among the published payloads going along for the May 16th-scheduled trip, Brett emphasizes the test of a system "capable of capturing solar power and beaming that energy back to Earth." While Brett details some specific and relatively finite positive fallouts from this technology, we wonder about more lavish "sci-fi" stories of space-collected and beamed solar power for good or ill. We also worry about possible side effects from space-generated microwaves, but maybe that's just due to an educational deficit on our part. Brent also links to the May 6th Jim Garamone article
