Prince Charles and a Mysterious Monster - Mysterious Universe

A little known fact about the British Monarchy's heir apparent is his fascination with lake monsters. This first became clear in the 1980s when Prince Charles requested to see a recently made film that claimed to offer proof of the existence Morag, the monster of Loch Morar. While the 7-minute clip has since been lost, it did help uncover proof that Britain's next king is anything but boring. For More on the World̢۪s Weird Lake Monsters, we can read about Richard Freeman's 2007 expedition to Guyana. While originally intended to study a Bigfoot-like beast referred to as the Didi, the expedition uncovered a great deal of information about South American lake monsters. Nick Redfern has a theory that these water-based beasts may be giant salamanders, and he refers to the work of Steve Plembeck for those who wish to learn more. Building further on the case for giant salamanders or possibly even tunicate colonies, Malcolm Smith discusses The Amazing "Nestor" Sea Serpent of 1876. Described as a sluggish creature (that's lethargic, not slug-like) with black and yellow banded skin, its encounter with a ship at sea was close enough that crew members offered similar, non conflicting reports, which is a rarity. So wherever you stand on the topic of whether or not water monsters exist, there are some awfully big creatures that aren't giving up their secrets anytime soon. (CM)
