UFOs: Warnings to Those Who Investigate - Mysterious Universe

Beware: This Subject May Be Hazardous To Your Health. Such is Nick Redfern's theme about UFO investigators who get too close to the paranormal. Many of us know people who have "burnt out," defeated by their inability to solve the Great Problem on their own--or who, mesmerized by the subject they've come to detest, come back time and again to the field. Those examples pale before the accounts Nick recounts. Rich Reynolds muses on a rather related subject with Mad Persons Continue to Muddy the UFO Waters. "The inmates have taken control of the asylum" in ufology, thinks Rich, and he maintains this "has always been a main ingredient in ufology." Rich often makes strong points to invite reaction, and the UFO examples he gives pale before "ISIS martyrdom and kidnapping/killings of young women" etc. But a review of what constitutes UFO discourse, at least in the English-speaking world, is not encouraging.
