First he argues that such encounters, while "they belong to the same paradigm as the observation of objects in the distance, take place in a different context." Caravaca explains the "personalized" "co-creation" process between a witness' psyche and experiential background on the one hand, and an "external agent" on the other. The perception a witness reports is then part of "a complex psychic conjunction between our daily reality and an expanded reality." In UFOs: A Cognitive Paradigm That is Restarted Continually Jose explains why there's been no real progress in UFO studies--why "there is so little narrative and aesthetic continuity from one incident to another." Properly understood, UFO Close Encounters and occupants "are probably only 'vehicles' for a better understanding of an expanded cognitive reality that we do not yet know how to interpret or decode."
