The Strange Case of the Witch Nanny of Italy - Mysterious Universe

Back in the 1980s, young Scots lassie Carole Compton, was "swept off her feet" by an Italian beau and followed him to Italy where she found work as a children's nanny. Unfortunately what should have been a dream life turned into a nightmare existence when, after some house fires and various weird goings-on, she became suspected of witchcraft and ended up in prison. Perhaps her employers should have had Household Insurance in the form of Magical House Protection, which is the subject of Brian Hoggard's recent book. Dead cats, bottles of urine, and horse skulls are among the unpleasant items once used to keep a home safe from dark forces. Mind you, the pong from this stuff was probably enough to keep anyone at bay. (LP)
