NIDS, Robert Bigelow and Animal Mutilations--1966 to 2004 - UFOs-Scientific Research

Veteran Australian researcher Keith Basterfield offers three articles of particular interest to those willing to delve into the trove of information he's laboriously assembled. First up, regarding animal mutilations, a look at the "comprehensive NIDS [National Institute for Discovery Science] documentation on this subject." This is supported by references Keith has dug out of Forbidden Science 4: The Spring Hill Chronicles, The Journals of Jacques Vallee 1990-1999, available from Anomalist Books; and the former NIDS website, unearthed through the Way Back machine website. Reading through the cases, it appears at least some mutilations were done by human hands. With NIDS Investigated the Reported Shooting of a Non-human Entity -- Fort Dix/McGuire AFB, 18 January 1978 -- The NIDS Investigation Keith supplies links to and analysis of NIDS' reports on a very controversial claim. It's fair to say the brunt of NIDS' work here doesn't support the reality of a murdered ufonaut. In Mellon, Scheussler, NIDS and the US DoD Keith shows that a 2002 article written by MUFON notable John Schuessler prefigured two 2019 pieces by To The Stars...Academy of Arts & Science officer Christopher Mellon. Both urge the utilization of mostly the same known technologies and their data in pursuit of the UFO question. The natural takeaway is the revealing and disappointing fact that such resources have not been better employed in the time between their respective essays. (WM)
