Your Brain Chooses What to Let You See - Quanta Magazine

Goal Setting is a common term thrown around by self-help gurus offering unsolicited online advice. But what if there was something more to "goal setting"? Researchers have discovered that our brain uses a series of detail filters in order to keep us focused on priorities. For example, as tiny humans in a wild, wild world, our goal would have been to stay off the menu of any predators in the area, hence our ability to detect small movements in forested areas. Our brain can also perform Extreme Goal Setting, as explained by How to Use Our Natural Mental 'Magic'. Psychokinesis, otherwise known as PK, has been shown in controlled studies to be the result of intense goal setting by participants. We're hopeful then that PK can become an acquired skill,  since so far our extreme need for the remote when it's out of reach hasn't worked out so well for us. (CM)
