Scientists Baffled as Unidentified Object Falls From the Sky and Ignites a Number of Fires - The Mind Unleashed

We're updating a week ago report about something that flamed out of the sky on September 24, coming to ground, and starting fires on Chile's Chiloe Island. Elias Marat says scientific officials call it, technically, an "unidentified flying object"--but likely soil samples will prove it to be just human "space litter." Tim Binnall's Odd Fireball Mystery Unfolding in Chile pegs the date of the fall as September 25th, and shows a picture of the sampling operation. Micah Hanks' Mysterious Lights Over Chile That May Have Caused Fires Were Unnatural, Experts Say notes a "tantalizing possibility" of, for goodness' sake, what could be called "metamaterials" plus some background about a supposed and definitely shadowy group called the "Friendship," who were connected to 1980s Chilean UFO sightings. And Gizmodo's Ryan F. Mandelbaum links to several relevant sources in his discussion of the situation in Mysterious Chilean Fireballs Weren't Meteorites -- So What Were They?. (WM)
