Journalist John Ruch looks back at the work of the late Baltimore physicist William Corliss who for decades collected reports of strange phenomena culled primarily from the scientific literature and who self published dozens of books on these anomalies in fields as wide ranging as biology and astronomy, in a project he called The Sourcebook Project. And now, eight years after his death, the family is shuttering his publishing enterprise. Left unsaid in the article is the fact that his books are available in
libraries across the US, and his work is unlikely to be forgotten, at least among anomalists and Forteans. PS: the headline writer should be scolded for using the word "paranormal" in the title of this piece; Corliss studiously stayed away from phenomena of a paranormal nature. (PH)
