The Great UFO Death & Resurrection Show - UFO History, Fact & Fiction - The Oz Files

While many snipe away at the edges of the UFO sensation that broke in December 2017, some try to elucidate the backdrop to that Big Story. Iconic Australian researcher Bill Chalker includes that commentary in an information-rich article leading with the new, truly Fortean offering from Anomalist Books Redemption of the Damned Vol. I: Aerial Phenomena, then pivots to many of the burgeoning number of different elements in the AATIP-Nimitz et al. events, as well as some fascinating paranormal stories from Australia and New Zealand. New books are also the occasion for Jim Harold's podcast The UFO People - Cover Ups and Secrets - Paranormal Podcast 590, with MJ Banias and Nick Redfern. Nick's book is titled Cover-Ups & Secrets: The Complete Guide to Government Conspiracies, Manipulations & Deceptions, and MJ, who is Jim Harold's first guest, has authored The UFO People: A Curious Culture. The Redfern discussion is as always interesting and the book's contents well disclosed by its title; the Banias book is a little more nuanced, as MJ explains in his leadoff interview and in a separate one with Gene Steinberg and J. Randall Murphy at MJ Banias. Banias stresses his book is not about UFOs; rather it concerns the people who study UFOs, their subgroups, and the uneasy relationship of the UFO-interested with the larger society of which they are a part. Banias is also an easy and thoughtful interview, and both of these podcasts provide interesting listening. (WM)
