Rich Reynolds would like to believe that UFOs are ET visitors, but can't, and lists some of his major reasons why. Much boils down to considerations of time, distance, and intent. Drs. Conley Powell and Kevin Knuth tackled the formidable time and distance components of the problem at March's Anomalous Aerospace Phenomena Conference. Dr. Knuth's presentation is now available at the Scientific Coalition for UAP Studies site at
AAPC 2019. Knuth sketches one possibility in a nomadic society of explorers moving at fractions of the speed of light, with the capability of traveling enormous distances and visiting numerous star systems, rendezvousing occasionally in much less than a human lifetime --
ships' time. As far as the intent -- speaking just (and only) from a human perspective, that could come from many different scientific or cultural angles. Others might highly value the sight of a Morpho butterfly in flight; or the sounds of the tremolo, wail, or yodel of a loon; or Mozart's "Queen of the Night" aria from
The Magic Flute; or even reading sections 50-87 of Thucydides'
History of the Peloponnesian War, Book 7, for those brave enough to tackle that tome -- insert your favorite possibilities -- to visit this small world once, or several times. Professor Knuth suggests one reason UFO shapes so often "repeat" just could be that they are the very same craft stopping by, checking on things, from time to time. (WM)
