Watch Graham Hancock Discuss His New Book, 'America Before' - Daily Grail

The human past--or at least the human apprehension of it--is changing all the time. Such could be the underlying theme to this interview with the controversial writer of the forthcoming book America Before: The Key to Earth's Lost Civilization. Whether Graham Hancock's observations about the practice of archaeology directly support his grand speculations about a very ancient "seed civilization" is another matter. Jason Colavito, with one might term "characteristic spleen," responds with "In "America Before," Graham Hancock Attacks Archaeology. Jason highlights "Hancock's deep sense of aggrievement against archaeologists" while, interestingly enough, acknowledging a fundamental weakness in mainstream "introductory textbooks." Colavito focuses on another speculative archaeology writer in Andrew Collins Suggests Denisovans Built "Monuments" Associated with Atlantis. Here Jason further shows how "provisional" both mainstream archaeology and the use of genetic information can be while illustrating the penchant some have for sweeping conjectures based upon still-disputed discoveries. That even more "traditional" archaeology provides exciting reading is confirmed in Artifacts Found in Lake Titicaca Reveal Mysterious Ancient Religion. "The Tiwanaku is the greatest Native American empire that many Americans have never heard of," says one of the scholars in Jocelyne LeBlanc's article, which may go some way towards rectifying that knowledge gap.
