Kevin Randle is "not a fan of the tales of abduction," but he's impressed enough with Terry Lovelace's "outside" credentials to afford the retired Vermont Assistant Attorney General a hearing on his UFO/abduction experiences. Some of the interview delves into Lovelace's problems "after the fact" with segments of society, including a military stint that discouraged discussion of the subject. Kevin expresses surprise at this based upon his own service but would do well to remind himself about the numerous claims currently bruited about of a stigma against UFO reporting in other areas of the military. In the comments section Bryan Sentes recommends MJ Banias'
"Why Do We Alienate the Abductees?" This opinion-piece by the author of the new book
The UFO People: A Curious Culture is worth a listen, too. And Nick Redfern has a good recent article about
UFO Dossiers, Alien Abductions and Missing Time. Nick covers a very early U.K. UFO experience, as well as the extreme interest the British military had regarding the incident. But Jack Brewer seems wont to claim a kind of loose UFO community quasi-conspiracy behind "the manufacturing of alleged alien abductees." Most of Jack's
Indoctrination by Any Other Name is undeniably accurate, typical of the abduction phenomenon being so largely ignored by scientific and medical professionals. But broad-brush characterizations of an entire field tend to relegate those who truly "had any interesting experiences" to the shadows, and MJ Banias' admonishments about "experiencer" alienation should be remembered in this context.
