The Scientific Coalition for Ufology's report on elements of the 2004 Nimitz-Unknown encounters wows Rich Reynolds, who is attracted by "this thorough vetting of a recent UFO event (or events)." This positive piece raised some Comments which seemed to disparage the Nimitz report, which had not been read, by reference to an earlier report regarding a different event. This reader is an SCU Affiliate member through board membership in another organization. But it seems fair to note that the Nimitz report, also discussed in
Lance Moody and His Cohorts Insist that the Scientific Coalition for Ufology, Whose Report on the 2004 Nimitz "Tic-Tac" UFO I Praise (below) is Flawed, contains a richer variety of information, and relates to a case far better known, than does the prior Aguadilla report. Nimitz also has, perhaps unfairly, been raised by the media and others to almost "classic" status. These points support a reasonable position that the Nimitz report be judged upon its own merits. The SCU Nimitz report lays out its analyses and conclusions in detail and says it invites discussion of the facts, procedures, and findings. (WM)
