A Faerie Taxonomy - Dead But Dreaming

Neil Rushton has provided a well researched and intricately detailed treatise on the classification of fairies, taking into account culture, psychology, folklore, and numerous anecdotal reports. Rushton does not seem content with merely reporting on incidents of fairie-human interaction. One needs to understand why the interaction occurred the way it occurred, what the influences were at the time, and what similar incidents have been reported from which parallels can be drawn. Says Rushton: "The faerie taxonomy itself seems to have been millennia in the making and is apparently evolving as our human condition evolves." This post is fascinating and exhaustive, and well worth reading. (CM)
