James Carrion Interview - A Different Perspective

For all that has been said and written on the 1947 Roswell UFO event, it never stops producing new angles. Former MUFON head James Carrion offers one in his new book, freely available at The Roswell Deception. Roswell historian Kevin Randle has Carrion as guest in a two-hour podcast that manages to be civil throughout, not a small thing in a field generally so loaded with acrid debates and difficult personalities. The two differ on points large and fine, including how many "official versions" of Walter Haut's original press release there were. This detail bears upon Carrion's premise that Roswell was one of several events in a plan to fool the Soviets into thinking the U.S. had a "superweapon" in the early post-World War II era. Randle praises Carrion's work as evoking the mentality of that age, for bringing to light numerous biographical details about the players involved, and in particular for raising some new possibilities for the role of one David Johnson, previously regarded as a minor actor in that drama. Kevin also lauds Carrion's engineering links to the original documentation upon which Carrion bases his book. With The Roswell Deception - A Review Randle expounds further upon some of his differences with Carrion, including several areas not covered in the podcast discussion. (WM)
